“UWTSD has achieved an excellent result. 47% of our research has been deemed as globally or internationally leading which is a marked improvement on the 2008 research assessment exercise where an average of 26.5% of research at Lampeter and in Swansea was judged as 4* and 3* quality. This reflects the strengths of the transformed University and gives a good platform for future development.”
Professor Mike Phillips, Pro-Vice Chancellor Research, Innovation and Commercialisation.
The University of Wales Trinity Saint David is delighted with its performance in the Research Exercise Framework (REF 2014). This is the first assessment to be carried out of the University’s research as a newly merged institution. It builds upon the work scrutinized in the last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008) and reflects the excellent work carried out by research groups who have developed collaborative and multi-disciplinary approaches to their studies across the University’s campuses as well as with external organisations.
In the first UK wide assessment of research impact, 60% of UWTSD’s research work was judged to be either outstanding (23%) or very considerable (36%) in terms of its reach and significance. This demonstrates the strength of the University’s research work and the contribution it makes in seeking solutions to real world challenges.
