Professor Catrin Thomas

As Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Catrin Thomas provides strategic and operational academic leadership across the University. The role involves leading the process of developing the academic curriculum and establishing appropriate mechanisms to secure systematic institutional oversight of academic standards and the quality of academic awards. It includes responsibility for the development, ongoing monitoring and review of the academic regulatory framework and quality assurance systems. It also involves providing strategic academic leadership for the University’s collaborative partnership and international activity.

She is a member of the University of Wales Council, of the Board of Directors of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol and of the Higher Education Wales International PVC Advisory Group. She is also a QAA Reviewer.

She joined the University in 1989 as a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics before being promoted to the role of Academic Registrar in 2000 and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) in 2009.
