The exhibition, entitled ‘Harmony’ will be on display at the Senedd until Friday 20th February. It will be open to the public 9:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday and 10:30 to 4:30pm on weekends.

The twenty glass panels on show were all shortlisted in last year’s UWTSD ‘Dylan Thomas International Glass Award’ competition, which was created as a part of the centenary celebrations of the poet’s birth.

During a high-profile ceremony in Swansea last July the winner of the ‘Dylan Thomas International Glass Award’ was revealed as Ruth Morriss.

The piece by Swansea-based Morriss was chosen from twenty-one shortlist works, from across the UK, France, Estonia and New Zealand.

About her winning piece, Ruth said: “Exploring the Swansea coast line, the Laugharne Estuary and Rhossilli beach has inspired this work. Reading Dylan Thomas's story 'Who do you wish was with us?' which is about a visit to Rhossilli and Worms Head also impacted the work. The images and musicality within its writing creates a certain harmony. The natural landscape seems to flood into his work.”

The ‘Dylan Thomas International Glass Award’ was judged by: Hannah Ellis, Dylan Thomas’ granddaughter; Glenys Cour, one of Wales’ greatest colourist artists and friend of Dylan Thomas; Caroline Benyon, Chairwoman of the British Society of Master Glass Painters; Professor Medwin Hughes, UWTSD Vice-Chancellor.

The glass panels have previously been shown at the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea.

The ‘Dylan Thomas International Glass Award’ was part of the University’s wider competition which included the ‘Dylan Thomas International Poetry Award’, won by New York poet Martin Willitts Jr, the ‘Dylan Thomas Student Art and Design Award’ won by UWTSD student Carina Roberts, and the ‘Dylan Thomas Schools Award for Musical Composition’ won by Gower College student Tom Olsen.
