Overview
The aim of this course is to provide candidates with practical and theoretical knowledge to help undertake the role of a telescopic handler operator.

Certification
This Training leads to a CPCS Accreditation initial Red Plant Trainee Operator Card if the candidate achieves a pass on both the Theory and Practical elements of the test.

Who should attend
This course is suitable for anyone who requires training in operating a telescopic handler or if you wish to refresh or update your skills. It is suitable for those who have no prior experience or those who have some experience but have received no formal instruction. Candidates must have achieved the CSCS Health, Safety and Environment Test within 2 years of attendance on course.

Course Content

Endorsement C: All sizes excluding 360 slew – multi terrain with operating height unlimited and equipped with front-located stabilisers.

Successful candidates will gain knowledge and skills in:

  • Regulations and codes of practice
  • Safe systems of work, lift plans, method statements and risk assessments
  • Personal responsibilities
  • Pre start and running checks
  • Quick-hitch systems and changing attachments
  • Manoeuvring, reversing and incline disciplines
  • Preparing for road travel
  • Machine stability, duty charts and safety devices
  • Loading/ unloading trailed vehicles
  • Lifting at heights and transporting wide loads
  • Machine setup and configuration
  • Shut down and isolation

This is a 6-day course. 5 days training and 1 day practical and theory assessment.
