I lecture on undergraduate courses including themes and subjects such as:

  • Theories of human development
  • Inclusion
  • Early Numeracy
  • Working with young children and families
  • Safeguarding
  • Creativity

After I left school, I worked in numerous different places in the retail field and various positions as a labourer. A few years later I completed an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare, Learning and Development whilst working as a Learning Support Assistant. I then progressed through different positions within schools, undertaking roles such as: a Teaching Assistant, Intervention Group Coordinator, and more.

I then became a Systems Leader for the Carmarthenshire Communication Support Service, travelling around all the schools in Carmarthenshire providing support on the integration of the ChATT programme, and also working in unison with the Behaviour Support team. This involved supporting children with additional learning needs and also supporting and advising staff on how to support the children. Whilst working in these different roles, I decided to join the Flexible Learning Route for the BA (Hons) Early Childhood degree here at Trinity. This meant working during the day and studying in the evenings. I graduated in 2015 and then began lecturing in the school on a part time basis before undertaking a full time role in January 2016.

I have an interest in the holistic development of children, with particular interest in children’s additional learning needs, bilingualism and language acquisition and development.

The areas that I enjoy researching into include: language acquisition and development, additional learning needs and bilingualism.
