Professional Development

Professional Development

The University believes that continuous professional development of academic and learning support staff is an important and significant contributor to the systematic enhancement of learning and teaching across the University’s provision.

Professional development promotes teaching enhancement by, for example, focusing professional development on agreed enhancement themes, allowing individual staff to keep abreast of new developments, to refresh existing and develop new skills, and to reflect on their professional practice in general.

Professional development activity, both within and outside the University Group, is explicitly aligned to the UK Professional Standards Framewrok (UKPSF) and is integrated through a single dynamic programme to maximise awareness and participation.

Also, the University aligns its quality enhancement activity and institutional enhancement theme with the sector-owned Future Directions theme and activities which, for 2014-16, is Flexible Provision and relevant to the development of the SA1 campus with links to technology enhanced learning, work-based learning and widening access, for example.
