Setting Songs: Seventeenth-Century Songbooks and Lyric Identity

12 April 2016, 5:15pm

WVN Video Conference Studio 1, Arts Building, Lampeter Campus, UWTSD

Referring to John Donne's poem 'Triple Fooles', Jackson's Setting Songs: Seventeenth-Century Songbooks and Lyric Identityexplores the ways in which early modern printed songbooks encourage and allow us to interrogate the boundaries between the realms of the public and the private, and to understand more clearly the sophisticated negotiations and anxieties between priveliged intimacy and the uncontrollability of publication upon which Donne's 'Triple Foole' plays.
