This September, the first group of Chinese Studies students from the School of Cultural Studies arrived in Changchun, the capital of China’s northeastern Jilin Province.

Welcomed and accompanied during their first few days by UWTSD lecturer Duo Luan, they have settled at one of China’s most prestigious universities: Northeast Normal University (NENU).

Over the course of the next year, the students will complete an intensive Chinese language course suited to their individual needs and immerse themselves in Chinese life.

Impressed by the friendliness of the staff, the high quality of teaching as well as the brand-new student accommodation on campus, one of the students commented: ‘The more I realise where I am, the happier I get. Thank you UWTSD for organising this for us.’

Two of the three students study at NENU with a Chinese Ministry of Education Scholarship.
