00668 - Project Officer
School of Fine and Media Arts
Part Time (14 hours per week), Fixed Term for 1 year
The Project Officer is a pivotal role in delivering the outcomes of ‘Cyfaill Celfyddyd’, a project funded through a Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol Strategic Projects grant, in partnership with UWTSD, Cardiff Metropolitan University and Coleg Sir Gâr. “Cyfaill Celfyddyd” is a Welsh Medium e-resource aimed at A-Level learners, FE and HE students. UWTSD is the lead partner, where the Project Officer will be employed and based.
The broad aims are:
- to attract more learners to study Art and Design through the medium of Welsh
- further develop the relationship between schools, FE and HE sector in Art and Design
The resource will provide some curriculum support at each level of learning, improve learners’ confidence in Welsh medium Art and Design studies, and promote employability and opportunities in the creative industries in Wales and beyond. We have consulted with teachers, lecturers and other Art and Design sector representatives in setting these aims and objectives.
The e-resource will be available on the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol’s Resource Library (and promoted via other channels/websites) and will include video case studies of Welsh artists as well as basic academic content, Welsh keywords in Art and Design, and links to other useful resources.
The Project Officer will meet with the Project Team at agreed intervals to report on progress, gather feedback and take on ideas to enhance the resource (within the scope of the project).
The Project Officer will be based within the Swansea College of Art and Design and will report (directly) to Caroline Thraves, Head of School of Fine and Media Arts on the day-to-day management of the project as well as employment issues.
The ability to communicate and work through the medium of Welsh is essential for this post.
