BA Theatre Design and Production graduate shares her experience at UWTSD

22.07.2016

Becca Moore, who graduated with a First Class degree in BA Theatre Design and Production from the School of Performing Arts, at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, made the most out of her time at University.

Here, Becca talks about her three years at UWTSD Carmarthen:

“When I began my course at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, I had no idea how much I would grow and develop due to this creative and engaging course. The knowledge, skills and experiences that I have gained in every single module on the BA Theatre Design and Production course have been so much more than I ever could have expected.

“I have experienced every aspect of theatre, including lighting, sound, AV and digital design, set design and scenic art and construction, costume, make-up and props, stage management, main-house, touring and site-specific theatre productions. As well as these, I was given the opportunity to venture into other fields including Television, Film, Opera and so much morw. I learned to cover the whole process of a production, from Pre-to-Post.

“As a student of the School of Performing Arts, you get the opportunity to work extremely close with the tutors who are all working as professionals in the field. Everything you learn is current and relevant to this ever-evolving industry. The support and contact time you have from tutors is a real strength of the course. You are given great responsibilities and are encouraged to challenge yourself, push boundaries and to be creative and unique.

I” made the absolute most out of opportunities that were available to me at University. I would not have had the confidence to take those opportunities if it weren’t for all the people that I have met and worked with throughout my time on the course. Working with companies such as the Welsh National Opera, Taking Flight Theatre Company, Prague Quadrennial and It’s My Shout has been a fantastic experience.

“I’m looking forward to my next exciting challenge of working on a work placement as an Assistant Stage Manager with National Theatre Wales on the ‘City of the Unexpected’, celebrating the life & work of Roald Dahl. I feel like I am in the best position I can be in for this opportunity – thanks to everything I have learned whilst studying at UWTSD and all the professional opportunities I’ve been able to experience. The Theatre Design & Production course has certainly prepared me for a long and successful career in the creative industries. I have achieved more than I ever thought I could here, and I cannot recommend this journey enough.”
