05.07.2016

Ania Davies, BA Acting graduate, has secured a job with Taking Flight Theatre Company on their Rome and Juliette tour. Ania will also be working with ‘It’s an Act’ productions during Pantomime Season.

Ania attributes her success to her time at UWTD Carmarthen and highly praises the BA Acting course.

Ania said: “These last 3 years have been the best 3 years of my life. They have been the most educational, inspirational, enjoyable 3 years and I shall carry these experiences and memories with me forever.

“I have been very fortunate on my course to experience an array of modules which have helped to mould and prepare me for my future, whatever may come my way. I believe that this course in particular is fantastic because it has something to offer for everyone. From movement, musical performance, script work, TV and radio work, Shakespeare studies, absurd theatre, site specific theatre, touring theatre…this course has it all, and these are only some of the modules.

“Within the three years it’s unimaginable to think that you can learn so much, I encourage everyone who’s embarking on the BA Acting journey to cherish each moment, study hard and most of all, enjoy. The tutors are fantastically encouraging, inspirational, and want you to succeed more than anything.

“I was fortunate to be able to audition for a work placement with Taking Flight Theatre Company who work alongside our acting department at UWTSD Carmarthen. Taking Flight aims to help people in the industry to excel and also to work with groups of people who have traditionally been under-represented in theatre, film and television.

“We are currently working on a production of Romeo and Juliet, which has an exciting, and quirky modern twist. The tour began on June 16th at Thompsons Park in Cardiff and continues to tour around Wales and parts of England until the 1st of August.”

Taking flight Theatre Company challenge the perceptions of disabled & sensory impaired people in and through the arts. They create accessible, integrated and exciting theatre.

“I have been fortunate to also land myself some Pantomime work over Christmas with ‘It’s An Act’ productions who are based in Swansea, which is another exciting opportunity that I can’t wait to begin.”

BA Acting at UWTSD Carmarthen is an innovative and exciting programme designed for students who aspire to a career in the performance industry.
