Students from University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s Faculty of Business and Management have graduated at a ceremony at Swansea’s Brangwyn Hall.

Addressing the graduates on the first of three days of celebrations, Professor Medwin Hughes, DL, Vice-Chancellor, said : “It is a great honour for me to welcome you all here as we continue celebrating academic achievement across the region. And as Vice-Chancellor it gives me great privilege to say congratulations and to thank you for what you have done for this university.

“Today is your day. A day when the university comes together to celebrate your success. The graduation ceremonies mark the climax in the academic career of our students. It is the result of hard work and commitment, but we should also remember the support given by families and friends.

“Hopefully your association with the University of Wales Trinity Saint David will not end at graduation but will continue throughout your professional and personal life. Today is the start of your journey that could take you all over the world.”

For the first time, students at UWTSD have graduated from five integrated masters courses in Business Management, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Finance and Management and Leadership.

Roger Maidment, Dean of Faculty and Business Management said: “We introduced the integrated masters courses last year specifically to provide an opportunity for our final year graduation students to provide masters level study which was integrated into their undergraduate programme. These programmes are now offered to all new students and for students wishing to transfer midway through their undergraduate studies where it is felt they have the capacity to be successful on an integrated masters course.”

Graduate Vasilios Samaras studied part-time for a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Having previously attained a PhD, since embarking on the MBA programme Vasilios has been promoted to a Director of the international company he works for.

Vasilios said: “I worked as an engineer before beginning this course; it has been a fantastic experience to do something different. My favourite aspects of the course were the discussions and interactions that went on between lecturers and students, they were really interesting and opened my mind towards a whole range of debates. There is no doubt that this course will contribute positively to my career.”

Fellow MBA UWTSD Graduate Ben Pothecary said : “Graduating is a fantastic feeling. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at UWTSD and can’t thank my tutors enough for their constant support. The course was challenging with many ups and downs, the sense of achievement I feel is astonishing. I can’t wait to begin my career and feel excited for what my future holds.”
