11.07.2016

Tiernan Scott, BA Sports Management student, is graduating today from UWTSD Swansea having received the Incentive Scholarship from the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol .

The Incentive Scholarship, offered by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol is a £1,500 Scholarship for students who study 40 credits every year through the medium of Welsh.

Tiernan said: “Being able to study a third of my course through the medium of Welsh has undoubtedly opened a lot of doors for my career. I have thoroughly enjoyed the modules that I studied through Welsh and the constant support from lecturers has been outstanding. It was fantastic to be able to speak Welsh on a weekly basis and the study groups were really close-knit and friendly.

“Having studied through the medium of Welsh, I am now in a position to be able to apply for a wider range of jobs, which is a big advantage. I also achieved a Language Skills Certificate which will look great on my CV.

“I’d like to thank the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol and everybody who has helped me throughout my studies. I’d also like to encourage anyone who is thinking of applying for this Scholarship to go for it – it is a massive benefit. You don’t lose anything, but you gain a tremendous amount and the financial support has been a really big help during my time as a student.”

Sian Harris, Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol Regional Co-ordinator of Business Management said:

“Congratulations to Tiernan on being the first student from the Faculty of Business and Management to graduate with the support of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol Incentive Scholarship. It’s a great achievement and I wish him the very best for his career, he has a very promising future ahead of him.”
