Students from Wales International Academy of Voice are giving an Opera Gala

08.05.2017

Students from University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s Wales International Academy of Voice (WIAV) are pleased to announce that they will be performing in two operatic galas in Cardiff this summer. The concerts will take place in the stunning Tabernacl Chapel on The Hayes in Cardiff and will give the students the opportunity to showcase some of the world’s most beautiful operatic arias and duets.

The concerts will be the culmination of a busy year for the students, who have travelled from all over the world to train with the renowned, Welsh-born operatic tenor Dennis O’Neill. As well as participating in masterclasses with Australian conductor and pianist Richard Bonynge, and world famous soprano Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, they have participated in concerts in St Paul’s Church in Covent Garden (known as the Actors’ church) and in the Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea where they were pleased to welcome Pembrokeshire-based vocal group Bella Voce.

WIAV provides a highly specialised and unique environment for a small number of exceptional singers at the early-professional stage, selected and recruited globally, to develop and polish their talent to the highest professional standards.  It is a centre of excellence and opportunity to prepare for the challenge of an extremely exacting and unforgiving world stage. The summer concert series play a vital role in allowing students to develop into world-class opera singers.

Tickets cost £8 (or £6 for Friends of WIAV)
