Students from Wales International Academy of Voice give concert in Dylan Thomas Centre

Students from Wales International Academy of Voice (WIAV) have welcomed Pembrokeshire-based vocal group Bella Voce to sing in a concert in the Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea.

The students from WIAV sang a wide range of operatic songs including arias from operas such as Carmen by Bizet, Don Giovanni by Mozart and La Traviata by Verdi. It also included a selection of Croatian folk songs sung by Nela Šarić, a Croatian student who is studing MA Advanced Vocal Studies. The concert was the last of a week-long series of concerts given by the students, who have been performing in Tabernacl Chapel in Cardiff. 

The concert was attended by WIAV Director Dennis O’Neill, who introduced the concert and Head of Music Jane Samuel. It was also attended by Lord Lieutenant of West Glamorgan Mr. D. Byron Lewis. The students were fundraising for their forthcoming visit to Los Angeles where they will be performing  at the British Consolate in Beverley Hills.

WIAV were also pleased to welcome Bella Voce from Pembrokeshire who performed a wide repertoire of songs including Calon Lân and Pure Imagination, a song made famous by the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
