UWTSD Product Design graduate Phil Sage, Senior Director, Global Product Acquisition & Inventor Relations at Hasbro, has been announced as one of the speakers for TEDxWellington 2017.

Phil, from Penclawdd, graduated in 2001,  after completing a Foundation Art & Design Diploma, before being awarded a First Class BSc(Hons) in Product Design.

He has previously worked as a Senior Technologist / Product Designer with Hasbro Europe, London; and as a designer with the Lego Group, based in Denmark.

He is one of 15 speakers/performers who will be centre stage in front of a 1,000 strong audience at St James Theatre on Sunday 18 June.

This year's speakers/performers will delight the audience with an exciting range of topics covering everything from toy designing to surfboard shaping, musical robots to little penguins and tree nuts to sharks.

The wide range of topics and diverse backgrounds of the speakers/performers reflect the 2017 theme 'what's your perspective?', which was announced online last month.

Phil Sage will deliver a talk entitled, 'discovering and innovating the world’s best play experiences.'

TEDxWellington 2017 is sponsored by Powershop, Talent Army, the US Embassy and Victoria University of Wellington. ENDS

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organised.
