UWTSD hosts Skills and Employment Fair

14.03.2017

Last week, over 300 pupils, students and members of the local community visited the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s Skills and Employment Fair that was held on its Lampeter campus.

Entitled ”A Future You”, the event attracted a great cross-section of employers and community groups, including The Royal Commission of Ancient and Historical monuments, the National Library of Wales, Dyfed Powys Police, Coleg Ceredigion, Denmark Farm, Homestart and CAVO.

Pupils from years 11, 12 and 13 at Ysgol Bro Pedr were in attendance, as were many local job seekers and a high number of UWTSD students at both under and post graduate level.

“In total, over 300 people attended with many young people leaving the event equipped with ideas and guidance on their next steps in their professional lives,” says Lindsey Gilroy, Business Development Officer at UWTSD’s Lampeter Campus and the organiser of the event.

“There was also plenty of information about volunteering and internship opportunities on offer as well as details about bursaries and work experience placements. Visitors could even try their hand at bricklaying, thanks to the Construction team at Coleg Ceredigion who came along to support youngsters interested in developing a career in this field.  It was a fantastic event and I’m very grateful to everyone who took part.”
