Catrin was lucky enough to study abroad as part of her undergraduate degree. She now wants to help other young people to achieve the same wonderful experiences.

Headshot of Catrin

Catrin graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Geography with International Study, in which she was lucky enough to travel extensively. She has come straight into her teacher training from her undergraduate studies, and she is looking forward to qualifying as a geography teacher in Secondary schools. Catrin said: “I was always interested in geography, but having the opportunity to study abroad really allowed that passion to grow. As a teacher, I want to inspire others to have the same opportunities that I have experienced. Geography is the understanding of the world we live in, so inspirational geography teachers are vital for empowering young people with this knowledge.”

Catrin is now looking forward to her second placement and is hoping it will be as successful as her placement in her first semester. She said: “My mentor is so supportive and an expert in his field. Being able to share his knowledge is invaluable. Spending time in a variety of schools is both challenging and rewarding in equal measure. I feel well equipped to enter the profession, and prepared for the challenges that lie ahead. It’s very intense, hard work, but well worth it.”
