University of Wales Trinity Saint David student announced as Urdd President for 2016

09.12.2015

A University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) student, Daniel Rowbotham has been announced as the new Urdd President.

Daniel will be undertaking his President duties whilst studying BA Performing on UWTSD’s Carmarthen campus. He has been the Chair of the Urdd’s national youth forum, Bwrdd Syr IfanC, since January 2015.

Daniel said: “It is an honour and a privilege to receive the role as Urdd President for the upcoming year. I’ve enjoyed taking part in various Urdd competitions since I was at school.  Recently, I have taken part in youth forums which have led to volunteering  for a number of activities, trips abroad, one day trips, sporting activities, jamborees and Mr Urdd tours.

“I’m currently organising activities for Aelwyd y Drindod on UWTSD’s Carmarthen campus and am helping to organise Aelwyd Myrddin, who meet at Yr Atom every week. As President, I will continue the brilliant work that Bwrdd Syr IfanC have been doing so far, and I wish to work towards guaranteeing that there are vast opportunities for the youth section of the Urdd.

“I’m looking forward to meeting the new Chief Executive. I also hope to continue the humanitarian work that Rhun Dafydd, the 2015 President has been doing.”

Anwen Eleri, Ceredigion Development Officer said, “I have known Dan for years and I am so grateful for everything he has done helping us in the region over the years.  He is such a kind, helpful and likable person – nothing is too much trouble – and he’s a fantastic Chair to the Urdd national youth forum, Bwrdd Syr IfanC.  He is fair with everyone and listens to the opinions of others.”
