UWTSD Work in Partnership with ERW on Initial Teaching Education

09.07.2015

On 16 March 2015, the Education Minister announced plans to improve support for teachers in Wales to develop their career through the New Deal scheme, which will in effect, restructure continuing professional development programmes for teachers.

As part of the regional strategy for implementation of the New Deal, that provides high quality professional learning opportunities to practitioners during their career, Education through Regional Working (ERW) has engaged with 11 schools from across the region to work in partnership with the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s South West Wales Centre of Teacher Education to develop new models of delivery for the induction and mentoring of Initial Teacher Education (ITE) student teachers.

This is an exciting collaborative project that will continue to develop through 2015/16 with best practice models for ITE training becoming available to be shared with schools and colleagues across ERW.

The formal launch of the project took place on Tuesday July 7 and will be followed by Professional Learning School Case Studies in due course.
