All Performing Arts' programmes have been designed to develop students’ professional skills so that they graduate as industry-ready, independent and creative practitioners.
The School’s engagement and collaboration with theatre professionals from different disciplines creates an extremely encouraging and supportive environment in which students can safely explore and experiment.
Performing Arts sits at the cultural heart of the Carmarthen campus with a wide range of theatre professionals contributing to the programmes as tutors, directors, designers and musical directors.
Students are taught by professionals who work within the performance industry. With a final year that is entirely production-based, vocational training programmed in acting, theatre design and production, dance and musical performance enables students to explore what it means to be a professional arts practitioner.
UWTSD Carmarthen is situated on the outskirts of the town of Carmarthen. Student-focussed and friendly, Carmarthen campus hosts excellent student facilities including a gym and sports centre, Student Union and Student Services. Find out more about Carmarthen’s community spirit here.
Performing Arts (Swansea) is based on Townhill campus, where students are encouraged to develop practical and academic skills in the exploration and application of drama, performance, marketing, directing, facilitation, technical skills and production.
Ultimately, the degree programmes on Townhill campus encourage students to challenge, explore and create performance practices - giving students the skills to open the doors to a diverse range of employment opportunities.
Swansea is a vibrant city surrounded by world-renowned beaches, castles and woodland areas. With excellent rail and road links, Swansea is a perfect location for study.
The School has well-established exchange links with top US universities. Students of BA Acting and BA Theatre Design & Production are given the opportunity to apply for study abroad, during the first semester of their final year, at one of the following American institutions:
- California State University at Fullerton, Los Angeles
- University of New Mexico at Albuquerque
- University of North Carolina at Greensboro
We also welcome incoming students from the three partner Universities to study with us for a semester.
Students pay the same tuition fees they would pay if studying at our University, however students are responsible for paying additional expenses such as accommodation, meals, flights and spending money.
Furthermore. there is an opportunity to study a module in Vancouver during your second year. This ‘summer school’ is hosted by Douglas College, our partner institution in Canada, and offers a varied cultural and educational programme.
