The MA in Theatr a Pherfformio will provide students the opportunity to more fully develop and enhance their skills in acting, dance, physical theatre, singing and voice. The acting studies will focus on deepening the students understanding of key skills such as character identification from text analysis, understanding and playing complexity, deepening connection and relationship between characters, playing, developing the ability to respond instinctively in the moment to impulses.

The acting process will also be enhanced by taking part in pieces directed by the MA Directing student/s. Through this process they will gain an opportunity to achieve more practice of acting skills and receive more frequent feedback from showings of their work. These pieces vary between acting, dynamic physical work and singing pieces.

Dance and physical theatre classes will enhance skills in Jazz and Tap and movement module will include disciplines such as Laban and Feldenkrais. The singing component will focus the actor vocal technique and repertoire development. Using Professional artists to deliver classes and workshops, to complement the core teaching staff, the course will look to train and develop students moving towards a professional level of performance.

These experiences will enhance the students’ knowledge of the varying approaches to acting in the industry and will also create working connections with established companies and artists they can contact during their working lives. They will also meet key welsh directors in film and theatre who can identify them for future casting opportunities. This is a practical degree which gives the BA Theatr a Perfformio cohort the opportunity to be a part of three public performances every year.
