Witchcraft and Wizardry

Amphitheatrum Sapientiae

'What use are torches, light or eyeglasses, if people will not see’. Heinrich Khunrath, Amphitheatrum Sapientiae. (Khunrath, 1609)

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David differ somewhat in their respective approaches to the study of magic. Whereas Hogwarts provides an excellent, if at times hazardous, training in applied wizardry, the University of Wales Trinity Saint David offers the opportunity to develop a theoretical understanding of the intellectual and cultural history of magic. This exhibition shows a small selection of books relevant to the study of Witchcraft and Wizardry that are kept in the historic collections at the Roderic Bowen Library and Archives, and that are available for consultation to all students at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
