Dyma grynodeb o brif agweddau fy rôl fel Tiwtor Pwnc o fewn y Brifysgol:

  • Cyflwynaf fyfyrwyr i ystod o strategaethau dysgu ac addysgu sy’n eu paratoi ar gyfer eu profiadau yn yr ystafell ddosbarth.
  • Cynlluniaf i sicrhau bod yna berthynas glos rhwng y damcaniaethau a gyflwynir yn ystod prif ddarlithoedd a’r arferion yr archwilir a threialir yn ystod astudiaethau cwricwlaidd.
  • Cefnogaf fyfyrwyr gyda’u gwaith o gynllunio a chyflawni aseiniadau.
  • Ymroddaf i ymchwil addysgol er mwyn cyfoethogi profiadau myfyrwyr.

Rwyf hefyd yn gyfrifol am Fodiwl 05, sef elfen Profiad Addysgu Proffesiynol y cwrs, ac yn Gydlynydd Partneriaethau Strategol. Golyga hyn fod gen i’r fraint o gydweithio’n agos gydag ysgolion a thiwtoriaid y Brifysgol er mwyn helpu cynnig y profiadau dysgu ac addysgu gorau posib i’n myfyrwyr.

Here is a summary of the main aspects of my role as Subject Tutor within the University:

  • I provide guidance and support for Secondary PGCE Religious Education students.
  • I present to students a range of learning and teaching strategies that prepare them for their experiences in the classroom.
  • I plan that there’s a close relationship between the theories presented during the main lectures and the practices that are scrutinized and trialed during curricular studies.
  • I support students with their planning work and with fulfilling assignments.
  • I devote myself to educational research in order to enhance the experiences of students.

I am also responsible for Module 05, i.e. the Professional Teaching Experience element of the course and am a Strategic Partnership Coordinator. This means that I have the privilege of working closely with schools and University tutors in order to help offer the best possible learning and teaching experiences to our students.

Cyn cychwyn ar fy ngyrfa ym Mhrifysgol y Drindod Dewi Sant yn Ionawr 2014, mwynheais yrfa lwyddiannus a chyfoethog mewn ysgol Gymraeg yng nghymoedd De Cymru (2000-2013). Bûm yn Bennaeth ar Adran Addysg Grefyddol yr ysgol honno am 12 mlynedd; ac yn 2012 cefais fy mhenodi i fod yn Uwch-arweinydd Addysgeg yn yr ysgol, gyda chyfrifoldebau penodol am ddatblygu llythrennedd ac uwch-sgiliau meddwl.

Yn ystod fy ngyrfa fel athrawes, manteisiais ar gyfleoedd di-ri i chwarae rôl flaenllaw mewn datblygu Addysg Grefyddol yn bwnc ar gyfer yr unfed ganrif ar hugain. Bûm yn aelod o’r tîm aeth ati i lunio’r Fframwaith Enghreifftiol ar gyfer Addysg Grefyddol (Llywodraeth Cymru, 2008), a’r deunyddiau enghreifftiol a gyhoeddwyd yn sgìl hynny. Dyma oedd y symudiad cyntaf at greu fframwaith a disgrifiadau lefel Addysg Grefyddol genedlaethol yng Nghymru. Credaf yn gryf bod angen bod ar flaen y gad pan ddaw at ddatblygiadau newydd ym myd addysg.

Rhwng 2008-10 cyflawnais Ddiploma Raddedig mewn Rheolaeth ac Arweinyddiaeth; a rhwng 2011-13 bûm yn ymgynghorydd ar Asesu ar gyfer Dysgu i gwmni Datblygiad Proffesiynol a Dysgu Parhaol yng Nghaerdydd. Rwyf wedi parhau gyda fy rôl fel Swyddog Monitro Addysg Grefyddol ar gyfer Adran Addysg a Sgiliau Llywodraeth Cymru, rôl cefais fy mhenodi iddi yn 2012. Ers 2014, rwyf wedi bod yn aelod o fwrdd golygyddol y wefan Newyddion Addysg Grefyddol (http://www.religious-education-wales.org).

Y profiadau hapus a hynod o bositif cefais fel athrawes arweiniodd at fy awydd i ymgeisio am fy swydd bresennol yma ym Mhrifysgol Cymru y Drindod Dewi Sant. Anrhydedd ydyw cael gweithio gydag athrawon y dyfodol a pharhau gyda fy nghyfraniadau at ddatblygiadau newydd a ffyniant Addysg Grefyddol  yn ein hysgolion.

Before commencing on my career at University of Wales Trinity Saint David in January 2014, I enjoyed a rich and successful career in a Welsh medium school in the valleys of South Wales (2000-2013). I was Head of the Religious Education Department in that school for 12 years; and in 2012, I was appointed Senior-lead for Pedagogy in the school, with specific responsibilities for developing literacy and higher thinking skills.

During my career as a teacher, I took advantage of countless opportunities to play a prominent role in the development of Religious Education as a subject for the twenty-first century. I was part of the team that set about drawing up the Exemplar Framework for Religious Education (Welsh Government, 2008), and the exemplar material that was published in its wake. This was the first attempt at creating a national framework and level descriptors for Religious Education in Wales. I strongly believe that one needs to be at the forefront when it comes to new developments in education.

Between 2008-10, I achieved a Graduate Diploma in Management and Leadership; and between   2011-13, I was an Assessment for Learning advisor for a Professional Development and Continuous Learning company in Cardiff. I have continued in my role as Religious Education Monitoring Officer for the Welsh Government’s Department of Education and Skills, a role to which I was appointed in 2012. Since 2014, I have been a member of the editorial board for the website Newyddion Addysg Grefyddol (Religious Education News) (http://www.religious-education-wales.org).

It was the happy and remarkably positive experiences that I had as a teacher that led to my eagerness to apply for my post here at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. It is an honour to work with the teachers of the future and to continue contributing towards new developments and the success of Religious Education 2 in our schools.
