After working in tax consultancy and accounting in Germany, Sandra studied Business and Business Education at the University of Bamberg, Germany. She then completed the teacher training (Qualified Teacher Status) in Bavaria, Germany, before she came to Wales where she went on to obtain a Master of Science in Economics and a PhD in the area of Labour Economics at Swansea University. Sandra has taught at different institutions in Germany and Wales. She has worked as a lecturer at University of Wales Trinity Saint David since 2011.

Sandra’s research interests concentrate on the analysis of wage inequality with a particular focus on public-private sector differentials, spatial inequality and the impact of the local unemployment and inactivity rates on earnings.

Further research interests include educational attainment and the effectiveness and efficiency of self-organised learning strategies.
