INSPIRE Sustainability Internships
Would you like to get paid to run sustainability projects across your University? Each year we have opportunities available across the Swansea, Lampeter and Carmarthen Campuses for Undergraduate students to work on sustainability projects and earn money while they do it!
These internships will give you the chance to work on a cause you are passionate about, and provide you with the skills and experience that will make your CV stand out from the crowd. The internships focus on energy and waste management, events and campaigns, and sustainable food.
To apply for a position, take a look at the summaries of the internships below. Once you have decided which position(s) you would like to apply for, complete the application form and return to firstname.lastname@example.org. Become a Green Impact Auditor!
Green Impact is a national environmental competition. It's all about staff teams in universities working together to improve their department's environmental impact. Once this annual programme finishes, participating teams must be audited.
Every year, in the Spring, we recruit student volunteer auditors to visit staff departments and conduct audits on our Green Impact teams. Each volunteer auditor will receive environmental auditor training and a free lunch!
Being a Green Impact Auditor is a great opportunity to gain experience in environmental auditing, meet like minded people and it looks great on your CV!
Register your interest in being a Green Impact Auditor by emailing email@example.com
Blackout is a campaign that brings together teams of staff and students in a challenge to turn off all non-essential equipment (e.g. computers, printers, lights, phone chargers etc) that has been left on unnecessarily before the weekend. The energy usage of that week is then compared to previous weeks to reveal the savings that can be achieved by making just a few small changes to the way we work.
This Spring volunteers turned off more than 1100 pieces of equipment and achieved an average energy saving of 17%!
The Blackout takes place in both the Autumn and the Spring and we will be looking for both staff and student volunteers to help us make this event a success. By volunteering you will be taking part in a University wide movement to raise awareness of energy waste. This also a great opportunity to become involved with promoting UWTSD’s sustainable practices and it looks great on your CV!
If you’d like to volunteer at this year’s Blackouts send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
The primary governance function with respect to the University is the Sustainability Committee. This gives us a direct channel to Senior Management to influence decisions affecting the economic, environmental, cultural and social sustainability of the University. There are a wide range of opportunities for you to get involved, including student and union representation. The list of current invitees can be found here: Sustainability Committee Representation
