17% of our energy use saved at NUS Blackout!

29 volunteers, both staff and students, gathered on our Swansea, Carmarthen and Lampeter campuses on Friday 10th March to take part in the UK wide NUS Blackout.

The Blackout is a campaign that higlights energy wastage on campus. Volunteers gathered together in buildings across the University in a challenge to turn off all non-essential equipment that had been left on before the weekend.

Volunteers found 1144 pieces of equipment left on. By turning these off they produced an amazing energy saving of 17%! This then revealed a potential annual saving of £3038 and 13,652KgCO2e!

Thank you to all of our staff and students who took part in the campaign and helped us show the impact that can be achieved with collective action!
