Improvements to recycling across Swansea campuses

01.11.2016

Staff and students can now recycle even more with the introduction of new recycling bins across Swansea campuses. This helps us reach the target of recycling 40% of our waste at source by July 2017.

In addition to the general waste bins, colour coded external bins have been added to campuses for recycling dry mixed recyclables, glass and food.

Students can also expect to find new bins in the Swansea halls of residence for recycling their dry mixed recyclables and glass.

The new waste management contract, awarded to CWM Environmental, who also work with us at Carmarthen, is a positive change for the University and a huge step towards achieving our ambition of increasing at source recycling to 70% by 2025 as set out within our Environmental Policy.

Working towards this target the Sustainability Delivery Team will be conducting a review over the coming months to identify key buildings in which to improve the internal recycling bin provision to maximise impact.
