Investigating Quaternary sequences forms a key part of the research and contract activity of Dr Martin Bates, who has more than 25 years’ experience of Quaternary science on a wide range of sites in both the UK and further afield.
Presently our major focus is on the gravel aggregates of southern England. Projects have been funded by English Heritage through the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund and provide the mechanism through which detailed Palaeolithic archaeological and geological projects have been undertaken on the West Sussex Coastal Plain/Solent River and the Medway of Eastern Kent.
