Abstract

The Wales Centre for Equity in Education is developing a stream of work around Ethnicity and Education. This will explore the educational disadvantages faced by low-performing BME groups. The ethnicity and education Special Interest Group will help to develop a body of applied research and policy work. It aims to contribute to improved knowledge and understanding of the extent, causes and effects of ethnic inequities within Welsh education and how to tackle these challenges. We intend to advance understandings and discussions of the lived experiences of BME pupils in relation to education, as well as providing insight into the views of teachers, parents and community representatives.
