During a time of dramatic change how do we know if we are successful in the design of new learning experiences that are fit for the future? Within the context of the requirements for new kinds of provision for Initial Teacher Education (ITE) across Wales, we use cultural historical activity theory (Engeström 1996) to identify tensions and challenges within current provision in order to support the change process and re- vision future-fit ITE programmes.
