Abstract

This paper focuses on Network Management. Firstly, a real-world scenario will be designed and simulated using Cisco Packet Tracer. From this a review of current technologies and techniques will be completed based on the design. Secondly, future growth and technologies will be researched for potential use within the network. Furthermore, network performance will be monitored utilising standard testing protocols such as Ping and Trace Route. Alongside the standard tests the following will be used to demonstrate connectivity: File Transfer Protocol (FTP), Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and Domain Name Server (DNS). Finally, the report will discuss the findings and make recommendations based on the conclusions of the simulation.
