Library & Collections
WIAV’s library offers a quiet and calm study space for all students. The library on our campus is specialised with a specific focus on the developing singer. The library has a wide collection of scores, academic material, cds, and vinyl.
Listening stations have been established to enable students to listen to our audio collection on site.
The library offers a self-service loans and returns system, as well as access to photocopying and I.T. facilities.
WIAV is home to one of very few entire collection of Nico Castel libretti collections.
Nico Castel has undertaken a stupendous task with his Operatic Libretti Series — a work that should have been done years ago ... How much time these publications could have saved me when studying a new opera! How fortunate are the present day students to be able to refer to these books, constantly improving their understanding of the complete works.
Dame Joan Sutherland
Dame Margaret Price Collection
World renowned Welsh Soprano, Dame Margaret Price (1941 – 2011) collected Classical Anthologies most of her life. Those in the form of Books, Vinyl and CD, donated to Dennis O’ Neill as a personal gift being a close friend of hers.
The now late Dames collection has been successfully transferred from storage to the Wales International Academy of Voice in Cardiff so that the contents can be displayed, used and enjoyed by both students, and music lovers.
Many Articles of this collection have been deemed priceless to the likes of Opera and Classical music collectors, and a select number of Vinyls boast being copies of lesser than 50 released worldwide.
