The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) is proud to announce its collaboration with Porth Agored Partnership, marking Learning at Work Week with a celebration of professional growth and development.

 This collaborative effort marks a significant milestone for social work professionals enrolled in the Graduate Certificate in the Consolidation of Social Work Practice programme, reaffirming the commitment to excellence in social work education. 

The longstanding partnership between UWTSD and twelve Local Authorities across Wales highlights the developing and advancing professionalism in social work. Tailored for Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSW) within Local Authorities and other social work providers, the Graduate Certificate in the Consolidation of Social Work Practice stands as a prestigious qualification accredited by Social Care Wales (SCW). 

Carol Armstrong, Chair of Porth Agored, emphasised the partnership’s commitment to excellence, stating:

“Our programme stands as a testament to our dedication to providing practitioners with a meaningful platform to pause, reflect, and refine their professional development amidst the demands of their roles.” 

The Graduate Certificate programme uses the wealth of knowledge and experience that social workers accrue in their daily practice. Led by qualified Social Workers excelling in their respective Unitary Authority areas, the course develops a dynamic learning environment enriched by personalised mentorship and support from Unitary Authority Training Coordinators. 

Saffron Gregory, a current student employed at Swansea Council said:

 “Participating in the Graduate Certificate in the Consolidation of Social Work Practice has been incredibly enriching. It has given me the opportunity to delve deeply into my practice, honing my skills in alignment with the latest standards and best practices.” 

Programme Manager Sarah Loxdale from UWTSD’s Professional Practice Framework team praised the programme’s alignment with Social Care Wales’ CPEL framework, highlighting its pivotal role in strengthening professional confidence and competency among social workers. As the programme celebrates its remarkable contributions, it proudly acknowledges the dedication and enthusiasm of over 1,100 learners in their pursuit for excellence.
