Apprenticeship students

Apprenticeships at UWTSD provide superb opportunities for individuals to gain high level skills and knowledge in their chosen career pathway.

Apprentices study an industry-approved programme that relates directly to the skills requirements of their employer.

As well as developing practical skills in their workplace, Apprentices study towards a university qualification, which may be an HNC, HND or a Degree.

Study will be day release, block release or a blend of online learning and tutorials depending on the programme of choice.

Apprentices can be any age but they must be employed in a role related to their study. They may be new to their role or require skills development in order to be able to progress in their workplace.

The Apprenticeship runs over 4 years with off the job training taking place on a day release basis in the University’s IQ Building on the new SA1 Campus.

Apprentices are supported throughout their programme by a Training Adviser, who visits the workplace regularly, providing the link between the academic studies and workplace learning, also addressing any issues that may arise during the programme.
