I am an experienced and professionally qualified Youth Worker with expertise in a variety of youth work methods, including Schools Based and Building Based Youth Work. I have experience of working within both the maintained and voluntary youth work sectors in Wales at regional and national levels.
I have a particular interest in Welsh medium youth work. These experiences have increased my skills, knowledge, interest and enthusiasm in the field of youth and community work, and have given me a sound knowledge basis on which to work from.
- Training Agencies Group (Wales)
- Youth and Community Work Programme Development Group.
I use my expertise in Youth Work and in Welsh to further develop the existing BA Youth & Community Work for delivery both through the medium of Welsh and bilingually – this is also reflected in my lecturing within the Youth and Community Work Degree Programme. My academic interests lie in the field of Youth and Community Work, with emphasis on Welsh medium youth work and school based youth work, along with building based youth work, and group development.
My research interests lie in the field of Youth and Community Work, with emphasis on school based youth work and alternative curricula, along with building based youth work, and group development. I am also interested in the role that youth work can play in promoting the social use of the Welsh language amongst young people.
