Dr Fatma Layas
ATiC Innovation Fellow
Dr Fatma Layas is a user experience (UX) expert. Her key area of research is in the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Her research focuses on:
- Inclusive design of technologies for disabled and elderly people.
- Usability and accessibility.
- Measurement of UX.
Fatma has recently joined the team and will be working collaboratively with other ATiC team members and a variety of enterprises within the field of health to support different research projects.
Before joining ATiC, Fatma held the position of Research Fellow and Associate Lecturer at the University of the West of England, Bristol. Prior to that, she was the vice president of the Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) at the University of York, where she completed her PhD in Computer Science.
Fatma has experience in working collaboratively with designers, development teams, potential users, and other stakeholders to ensure that the product design meets people’s needs, expectations, and requirements.
She also has experience in collecting, analysing, and synthesizing user research using a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods, in-person and remote, to inform the architecture design process.
