Garry Bartlett is the Technical Manager of ATiC

Garry’s key interests are in digital imaging, 3D visualisation and how their application in the fields of life science can be used in innovative new ways. As Technical Manager for ATiC, Garry will be investigating how the project’s resources can be best applied whilst also supporting the researchers and partner organisations in developing new services, tools and protocols through the use of existing and emergent technologies.

After graduating in Product Design, Garry has worked across many fields in the creative sector; starting out as a product and architectural model-maker and subsequently moving in to digital model making and animation. Over the years Garry has founded several companies servicing the architectural, digital, film and TV industries.

Garry has also worked as a freelancer undertaking print and web design, illustration, and animation commissions and has worked as the technical manager for various public art and theatre projects.

Over the past 8 years Garry has worked in UWTSD, Swansea College of Arts, CIRIC (Creative Industries Research and Innovation Centre) in a variety of roles, from Technical Project Officer to SRA, working on various European funded projects. Starting on the MIW (Moving Image Wales) Project where he supported Welsh production companies to develop new IP and routes to market. As Project officer on the ACT (Advanced Communications Technologies) project, working with SMEs to better understand and use emerging social media channels for business. The MIW2 Project where the team worked closely with larger Art and Media organisations to develop new digital IP. Most notably working with the WNO (Welsh National Opera) in developing and understanding the potential uses of 3D cinematography to take Opera to new audiences.
