“I’m very proud to have studied the BA Perfformio course at UWTSD – it gave me the opportunity to grow and develop as a performer and to find my own voice, says Lloyd. “I don’t think I would ever have gone for the X Factor if I hadn’t done this course. I’d always sung and I’d had experience of singing before but it gave me the confidence and it taught me so much about myself. It taught me how to channel my nerves….to think I can sing in front of millions of people every weekend… two years ago, I would never have been able to do it. So no way, I would never have done the X Factor if it hadn’t been for all the hard work and effort that the lectures put into this course.
"Receiving specialist training from highly experienced individuals, such as Elen Bowman and Eiry Thomas, during my acting modules, not only taught me to be a better actor, they also inspired me. They introduced me to new performing techniques - elements that have really helped me to create my character, Anest in Rownd a Rownd. "I learnt so much during my time on the course. In my opinion, this course is perfect for anyone who wants to learn more about performing as well as the industry itself – it’s very flexible and can adapt to students’ requirements. My University experience - on this intense and unique course - was invaluable and I would urge anyone considering a future in the performing arts to look at the BA Perfformio course at UWTSD."
"I've been a huge Coldplay fan for years so it was absolutely amazing to have the opportunity to perform with them. It was amazing to sing the anthem with Chris Martin and the band and to hear sixty thousand voices singing along with us. I've been very fortunate to receive a number of fantastic experiences during my time on the course, but this was one of the best things I’ve ever done. However, I would never have had the opportunity to sing last night if it wasn’t for the great connections my lecturers have, so I’m extremely grateful to them for thinking of me."
“I’m absolutely delighted to be one of the six chosen to compete in this year’s Bryn Terfel scholarship,” says Glain Rhys. “The constant support that I’ve had from the University and from my tutors at Canolfan Berfformio Cymru (Wales Performance Centre) has been great. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without that support.”
"BA MT at UWTSD has been everything I hoped for and more. The professionalism and friendliness of everyone involved is outstanding; I feel so welcomed.
I am thoroughly enjoying the triple threat training provided and can not wait to continue my journey with them, getting me one step closer to achieving my dream."
“I really enjoyed the experience of studying the course with UWTSD in Cardiff. As part of the course, we studied a module called 'Acting for the Screen' with the late Terry Dyddgen-Jones on the Pobol y Cwm set. I was really inspired by what we learnt both in front of and behind the camera during this period - it was a very realistic experience. It was also another example of us as students being able to work with, and being taught by, people from the industry, preparing us for our working lives.”
Studying in Cardiff has been fantastic. I’ve learnt new skills, as well as being able to get the opportunity to work on my own ideas. It’s given me the chance to meet and work with different people, I’ve made new connections, and it’s made me aware of the theatre industry in Wales.”
