The Certificate in HE: Health and Wellbeing for Carers concentrates on developing skills and methodologies designed to improve the quality of care and support itself.
This exciting and varied one year programme is designed for those currently working or planning to work in the care sector for the elderly, or care for people with conditions such as brain injury, autism and dementia.
Modules likely to be offered include;
- Physiology and Aging
- Introducing Mindfulness
- Communication and care
- Managing Conflict in a Care and Support Context
- Accessing Occupational Health
- An Introduction to Complementary Therapies in a Care Context
- Personal and Cultural Identity
- Care and Support of the Person with Dementia
A one year course delivered by professionals with a wide range experience. The programme is designed to support students in developing confidence and transferable skills in areas that affect mental health and wellbeing in their own lives and that of those who they support. A variety of learning styles are used and the course provides opportunities to get the latest subject knowledge and exploration of recent research in subject areas. Completion of this certificate could lead to more responsibilities in the work place.

The course has no examinations and has a range of assessments to suit the needs of the students.
This course has no set entry requirements and all applicants will be invited for an interview with the Programme Director (see contact below). We encourage applicants with a range of vocational qualifications and experiences to apply.
It provides opportunities for students to develop a range of care associated skills which transfer easily to all aspects of the care provision.
There is financial support with grants available-tuition fee loan, course grant and a University bursaries of £1000 per student.
All the CERT HE bursaries are paid in three instalments. Students get £250 in term 1, £250 in term 2 and £500 in term 3.
