Penwythnos y Glas - Freshers Weekend 2021
A special weekend for Welsh speaking students
The Trinity Saint David Branch of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol has organised Penwythnos y Glas for several years now. This event provides an opportunity for Welsh speaking freshers (whether they study through the medium of Welsh or not) to settle on the Carmarthen Campus before the remainder of the first year arrive two days later. A similar event is also taking place at Swansea, Lampeter and Cardiff campuses and gives Welsh speakers the opportunity to get to know each other and the campus before the semester begins.
As we were unable to hold the event last year, we are delighted to welcome you back safely this year. With the help of second and third year students, we have organised a special weekend that will be a great opportunity for you to make new friends at the beginning of the year!
All kinds of free social activities are being organised for you. The activities that make up this special weekend will start around 6pm on Friday 17th September and continue until late in the evening. We will resume activities on Saturday the 18th of September at 3pm after the University’s Welcome Day and continue the evening with the Gym Gym (Welsh Society). The timetable will be sent to you early in September.
So if you would like to take this special opportunity to attend the weekend and join your fellow students, I kindly ask if you could complete the registration form by 7 September 2021 please?
If you have booked accommodation for the year in halls of residence on campus, you will need to make sure that you arrange to move into your room before Friday afternoon, September 17th. You can do this by contacting the accommodation department, accommodation@uwtsd.ac.uk as soon as possible.
