Chinese Well-being and Self-care

A woman stands with her arms spread out in a spring forest as sun shines through the branches.

The Confucius Institute at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David has a unique focus on Chinese self-care (yangsheng) and well-being practices.

Over the past fifteen years we have worked with a range of partners to bring expert knowledge of Chinese well-being practices to the UK. Our work has included lectures, seminars, and conferences exploring the philosophy and practical application of disciplines such as medical qigong, taiji, Daoist internal alchemy, and Daoist medicine.

Our aim is to facilitate deeper understanding of Chinese well-being and self-care traditions and how they continue to evolve and adapt to the changing needs of people across the world today. Our courses, research and workshops provide stimulating encounters between Chinese and British academics, professional teachers, and practitioners of qigong, taiji and other self-care practices.
