Library and Learning Resources

Library and Learning Resources are committed to the safe reopening of our physical services and spaces in line with UWTSD, Welsh Government and sector guidance. 

For 20/21, the Library will offer a hybrid service primarily delivered online and we are working with the University to gradually reopen our physical collections and spaces in the safest way possible. This will happen in a phased approach where each reopening phase will be managed carefully to ensure that we maximise our support for all library users and staff. 

The Library will look and feel a bit different at the start of and throughout the academic year and as always, we will be striving to provide an excellent service, albeit a slightly reduced one in line with health and safety guidance. 

Click and Collect

From Monday 14 September, a Click & Collect service will be available at our Carmarthen, Lampeter and Y Fforwm libraries.

Items should be requested via the library catalogue and requesters will be notified by email when items are ready for collection.

Our opening times for collecting items are: 1pm - 4pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Virtual Enquiry Desk

Our support will continue to be available regardless of whether the buildings are open or not. We are operating a Virtual Enquiry Desk which can be reached by calling any of the usual library phone numbers: Contact Us

To access the Microsoft Teams software you’ll need to sign up using your student email address and password.

IT Exclusives

Remember that as a UWTSD student you can access some great IT exclusives to help you with the move to online delivery. These include FREE Microsoft Office 365 & Windows 10, Autodesk and Adobe Creative Cloud (including Photoshop, illustrator and Premiere Pro).

What IT support is available?

There is no on-campus IT Support, however you can access the IT Service Desk on 0300 500 5055 or by logging your request on https://webhelp.uwtsd.ac.uk  

IT&S Out of hours service:

From 5pm onwards, the IT Service Desk telephone support will return to providing out of hours IT support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Get in touch on 0300 500 5055

Adobe Creative Cloud software is now available temporarily for you to access at home. Find out more about this software and other IT exclusives here

What if I don’t have access to technology?

The University has considered issues relating to connectivity and IT access, enhancing the student laptop loan scheme, and will be introducing a new fund to support students in need.  More details on the 'Digital Connectivity Bursary' can be found here: Undergraduate Bursaries or Postgraduate Bursaries

What if I’m not familiar with the IT systems?

We have introduced technology-related training and guidance for staff and students - including using Microsoft Teams, submitting physical assessments, and accessing online resources.
