University of Wales Trinity Saint David offers the Professional Doctorate for experienced practitioners to gain a Level 8 qualification. Each qualification is awarded based on the successful completion of a series of taught modules and a work-based research project of 60,000 words.

The Doctorate in Professional Practice (DProf) provides a structured programme of study through the delivery of taught modules, closely integrated with an individual’s professional career development. 

The programme is open to practitioners who should normally have a minimum of 5 years’ experience at a managerial or senior level within their professional area.   

The Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) is widely recognised as the pinnacle of qualifications in the world of business and management. This DBA programme is designed to meet the needs of professionals working in Business Administration and Management related areas in the UK and international markets. 

The programme is open to candidates who have at least three years recent and relevant management experience.   

The Professional Doctorate Programme offers English language and literature professionals an opportunity to gain a research qualification at doctoral level linked to their area of work or professional expertise.

A professional doctorate is equivalent to a more traditional PhD by Research in terms of the original contribution to knowledge a candidate is expected to make in a given field, but it involves a taught part in addition to the advanced research each student undertakes.

Students on this programme complete six modules covering the areas English language education, literature and linguistics, before embarking on a research project related to their professional interests and experience. Graduates of the programme are awarded the title Doctor of English Language Education (DELE).

The Professional Doctorate in Education is a flexible programme that will allow you to undertake advanced educational research, specific to your own area of work and/or interests.  You will be supported throughout by a highly respected team of practitioners and academic staff. 

The programme is ideal for anyone working in a school or education-related capacity, specifically aimed at those involved in education in a wide range of occupations:  teachers, leaders and managers in schools, lecturers in HE and FE institutions, voluntary and third sector officers, local authority and regional consortia staff, training organisations and so on.

The Professional Doctorate in Heritage aims to address the demand for strategic and managerial positions and specific skills in the cultural heritage sector.

The programme offers insight in and strategic thinking for professional roles throughout the sector by covering a wide range of exciting opportunities in museums, local authorities, heritage agencies, organisations and consultancies.

Through a combination of academic studies, practical training and the final doctoral research project, graduates build up a thorough overview as well as specialisation in a wide range of aspects of the cultural heritage sector in both theory and practice.

This programme is aimed at professionals involved in the children and young people's workforce in a wide range of roles. Each stage of the Professional Doctorate (Prof Doc) has been designed to develop high-level skills of direct relevance to the world of work. Students will interrogate research, critique theory and conduct robust research connected to their occupation.
