Construction Workers 02

What is it?

The Construction Wales Innovation Centre (CWIC) is a unique all-Wales Hub & Spokes training facility funded by the CITB with its Hub situated within the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s waterfront Innovation Quarter development.

The Hub, which will open in September 2018, will offer specialised training and include a purpose built scaffolding centre.  A demand led training programme is already underway and being delivered by the Spokes located throughout Wales.

The Hub & Spokes have been delivering a range of training courses from level 1 (e.g. pre-apprenticeship, school tasters etc.) to level 7 (degree, professional etc.) in specialised construction activities that are NOT already offered in sufficient volume or quality by existing education and training providers or their supplier networks in Wales.  In our first 18 months  we have delivered 260 activities.  Our infographic provides more details.

In addition, this pan-Wales partnership is holding engagement events for those in full-time education and those seeking a career in construction.

Who is it for?

  • Large employer organisations engaged in construction projects including supply chains and support services.
  • Sole-traders and micro businesses involved in construction related activities.
  • Individuals interested in a career in construction and related activities.
