Mae Dr Gareth Evans yn arbenigo mewn dylunio, datblygu a gweithredu polisi addysg, yn enwedig yng nghyd-destun Cymru, ac mae wedi ysgrifennu’n helaeth ar system addysg Cymru ers datganoli. Mae’n arwain Canolfan Adolygu a Dadansoddi Polisi Addysg (CEPRA) y brifysgol, sy’n cynnig sylwebaeth ystyriol, ymchwil wedi’i gomisiynu a’i arwain gan y ganolfan, ac ymgynghori ar ystod eang o bynciau sy’n berthnasol i’r maes.
Mae’n darlithio ar ystod o raglenni ôl-raddedig, yn oruchwyliwr rhaglenni meistr a doethurol, ac yn gweithio gyda mwy na 100 o ysgolion ledled Cymru ar faterion sy’n ymwneud â datblygu’r cwricwlwm, dysgu proffesiynol athrawon ac atebolrwydd. Yn awdur toreithiog ac yn cyfrannwr rheolaidd i’r cyfryngau print a darlledu cenedlaethol, bu Gareth yn newyddiadurwr addysg am 10 mlynedd cyn ymuno â’r brifysgol yn 2016.
