Graduate and Postgraduate Conference 2019 (Faith and Finitude) 1-2 August 2019
‘Faith and Finitude’ is an interdisciplinary theme which focuses on the traditions of thought within the humanities and is broadly construed so as to include papers by graduate and postgraduate students in all areas of Humanities disciplines, particularly religious studies and philosophy but also including sinology, history, environmental studies, anthropology, creative writing, English literature, Classics, and Archaeology.
Call for Papers
The Faculty of Humanities invites graduate and postgraduates to submit papers to the Graduate and Postgraduate Conference, hosted by the University of Wales Trinity Saint David at its beautiful Lampeter Campus.
Topics include but are not limited to the following:
- Arguments for the existence of God
- Environmental crisis and extinction
- Ethics, uncertainty and value
- Existentialism and phenomenology
- Interfaith dialogues
- Issues in theology
- Knowledge and belief
- Sustainability and finite resources
- The concept of faith and related issues
- The New Materialisms
- The problem of suffering
We strongly encourage students to submit an abstract for consideration.
The conference aims to facilitate a supportive context in which students can talk about their research to fellow students as well as academics in the friendly and collegial environment for which Lampeter Campus has an excellent reputation. Only papers by graduates or postgraduates will be accepted for presentation but attendance is open to everyone.
Presentation submission requirements: please send abstracts of no more than 500 words and a cover sheet detailing the author’s name, address, telephone number, institutional affiliation, contact email, and title of the paper.

You have kindly been invited to the Friendship Dinner on the first evening of the conference. There will be a two-course evening meal provided. Please let Rebekah Humphreys know if you will be attending this.
The venue for the conference will be located on the beautiful Lampeter Campus in mid-West Wales, UK, SA48 7ED. Access to WiFi is available on site.
Presentations will take place in either Founder’s Library or in Old Hall (Both these rooms are in the Old Building where there is a reception desk; the attendant will be there to direct you to the correct location and answer any queries).

Alternative accommodation can be found in and around Lampeter. Below are two recommendations regarding where to stay, both within walking distance of the Campus and reasonably priced. It is advisable to book early in case of disappointment.

Registration is open to all (including undergraduate students, graduates, postgraduates, academic staff and members of the public), and incurs a fee of £30 for the catering* during both days of the conference. This fee is payable upon registration. To register, please use the registration link.
