Application Criteria
Our international scholarships are partial scholarships. This means that you must make sure you can cover the outstanding amount for fees and living expenses yourself.
Who can apply?
You can apply for an International Scholarship if you meet all of the following criteria:
- you are an international student (classified as 'overseas fee status')
- you have an offer to study a degree course at one of our campuses (September and January intakes only)
- you are not currently enrolled on a UWTSD University course

How are International Scholarships awarded?
International Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the following:
- Academic merit (your previous grades)
- What you expect to gain from your UWTSD degree course
- What you expect to do after you complete your degree (future goals)
What documents do I need to submit?
You must submit all of the following documents as part of your online application:
- offer email (conditional or unconditional)
- Academic Reference (from previous teacher or employer)
- Personal Statement (maximum 500 words)
- Academic transcript (if your final transcript is not available submit your most recent transcript; we will make a decision based on the grades you provide, not your expected grades)
What happens after I apply?
- You will receive a confirmation email as soon as you submit your application
- If any supporting documents are missing, you will receive 'chasing emails' (remember, we must receive all of the required supporting documents or your application will not be processed)
- We will email all applicants with a final decision.
If you receive a partnership discount on fees you will not also be able to apply for the following Scholarships.

Wales Global Academy International Scholarships
We are pleased to be providing scholarship opportunities to students from across the world.
There is a range of international scholarships available, so please consult the information below for current opportunities and eligibility criteria.
If you meet any of our eligibility criteria you will automatically be considered for one of the below International Scholarships. You don’t need to complete another form, simply apply for your course and if you receive a Conditional Offer from the University any relevant international scholarship will be applied automatically.
Students are only entitled to one of the scholarships listed below.
Multiple scholarships will not be awarded.
All Wales Global Academy International scholarships are only available to self-funded international students applying for a place of study on an on-campus full time course.
Wales Global Academy International Scholarships
UWTSD Wales Global Academy Alumni Scholarship – up to £3,000
UWTSD are offering a scholarship of up to £3000 for Alumni of the University who are seeking entry onto one of our postgraduate courses. To be eligible, you must have completed a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate course awarded by UWTSD or University of Wales and studied for at one of our main UK campuses or overseas collaborative partners.
UWTSD Commonwealth Country Scholarship – up to £3,000
To recognise the close links that exist between the UK and Commonwealth Countries and to celebrate the fact the University’s Royal Patron is HRH the Prince of Wales, the University will offer a scholarship of up to £3000 for International students from a commonwealth country applying for a Master’s level course.
The Global Wales Postgraduate Scholarship – Apply direct through the Global Wales website

Lloyd Family Travel Scholarship
Promoting Education and Cultural Links Between Wales and North America.
The Scholarships provide an opportunity for North Americans students to apply for an award to cover travel-related expenses in undertaking studies related to Welsh-American history and culture in Wales. The award is designed to support students aspiring to Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degrees or equivalent at recognized academic institutions in Wales. Application must be supported by the host institution. Financial needs must be documented.
The recipient does not have to be of a Welsh ethnic background however, a connection with Wales is an important asset.
The award will be made in Summer 2023 based on competition and sufficient merit.
Applications for 2023–24 are now open. Deadline for application: June 15th 2023. Apply through the North America Wales Foundation.
Grants for Financial Assistance
- The requester should provide a recommendation from a recognized Welsh American cultural or academic institution.
- Application for grant amounts in excess of $1,000 should provide an indication of the total cost of the proposed activity.
- Scope: Facilitation of cultural exchange between North America and Wales.

North America Wales Foundation Exchange Scholarship 2022–2023
The Exchange Scholarship programme provides an opportunity for North American students to apply for a $5,000 award to study in Wales. The award is designed to support students aspiring to Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral degrees or equivalent at recognized academic institutions in Wales. Application must be supported by the host institution.
The recipient does not have to be of a Welsh ethnic background however, a connection with Wales is an important asset.
