The International Year 1 (IY1), delivered at UWTSD’s Swansea campus is designed to allow admission to certain UWTSD undergraduate programmes for students who do not quite meet the academic admissions requirements.
The programme is designed to provide an intensive mixture of your first year undergraduate modules together with additional modules and tutorial support in Study Skills and English for Academic Skills.
The International Year 1 is the first year of a three year degree at the end of which if successful, you will receive a UWTSD Bachelor’s degree.

A large part of the course is devoted to academic subjects that relate directly to your proposed degree programme. All students take Academic English Language and Study Skills modules within the context of your academic discipline and will receive additional tutorial support if required.
Teaching is delivered through a range of methods including lectures, seminars and academic tutorials. The programmes have also been designed to develop the key transferable skills needed for successful undergraduate study.
Assessment
Students are assessed by a combination of exams, tests and coursework assignments which might include essays, presentations, problem-solving exercises, reports and projects.
Modules in academic subjects and study skills are assessed at the end of each semester but English language assessment takes place predominantly at the end of the programme.
The International Year One is suitable for international students who have studied AS levels, A levels, International Baccalaureate, a recognised Foundation programme or an international equivalent.
The programme lasts for three terms or one academic year.
Entry to undergraduate year two, following successful completion of International Year One, allows students to save time and money.
Fees
£14,250 for IY1
Years 2 onwards standard international fees for Undergraduate Studies.

Senior High 3 (Senior Secondary School Graduation Certificate) with 75% or above overall (with a minimum of 4 subjects).
Hong Kong
HKDSE with minimum of levels (48 UCAS points equivalency).
India
An overall mark of between 50% and 69% in the Standard India XII at a central or state level recognised board.
Nepal
HSEC 12th Grade or 3 year Post School Diploma awarded by the Nepalese Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) in a related subject.
Bangladesh
HSC (4.0 GPA or above) or 3 year Post School Diploma awarded by a Bangladesh Technical Education Board in a related subject.
