September 2023 Welcome Events

A student walks down a street; she is in focus, her surroundings and other walkers are blurred. The light is autumnal and golden.

The UWTSD welcome events are the perfect way to introduce yourself to life and study at UWTSD.

We look forward to welcoming you to our close community of staff and students at UWTSD. To help you make a successful start and make new friends, the University puts together welcome events which are free to attend.

As a new and returning international student to the UK we ask that you attend the university welcome events.

Our welcome events have been carefully planned to give you a thorough introduction to university life and study, it is therefore essential that you make every effort to ensure that you attend them.

If you cannot arrive at the expected time for any reason, please email to provide a reason (such as delays in visa processing or illness) and submit a new arrival time.

Before you arrive:

  1. Please join or watch the pre-arrival webinars
  2. Contact if you cannot arrive on time.
  3. Information is provided below on how to get to each campus:

UKCISA - international student advice and guidance - Studying in the UK? has some really useful guidance before you arrive in the UK.

We look forward to welcoming you to our campuses in Wales.

Further advice regarding enrolment will be provided two weeks prior to your programme start date as part of your welcome to the University. Please check emails for further information. If you require further information, please email

If you are unable to arrive at the expected time for any reason, please email to provide a reason (such as delays in visa processing or illness) and submit a new arrival time. You must also email us should you need to be excused from your in-person enrolment session, stating your reason. A member of the University will then provide you with the most appropriate advice.

You will also be required to pay any balance remaining of your tuition fee for the first year of your programme if you are not in receipt of official financial sponsorship.

What you will need to enrol

Please make sure you bring all the applicable documents listed in the sections below with you to our in-person enrolment sessions.

All international students who need immigration permission to study at UWTSD will be required to show their immigration documents to staff for verification at enrolment. The University is required to keep copies of your passports and visas on file as proof that you have been given permission to enter the UK and study at the University.

Those who are international exchange students here for six months will also have to provide documents to staff for verification.

Student visa confirmation – what you'll need
  1. Your current passport;

  2. Your BRP card (Biometric Residence Permit card);

    • Please make sure that you collect this from the Post Office stated on your UKVI letter before coming to the in-person enrolment session you have been invited to.

  3. The Entry Clearance vignette sticker;

    • Please make sure you do not use the e-Gates as a date of entry stamp must be present on this document.
    • Please provide your flight booking details or boarding pass for proof of date of entry should no stamp be present on this document.

If you are here as a non-visa national, then you do not have prior entry clearance to come to the UK to study. Your passport will contain a date of entry stamped upon arrival. This allows you to study at UWTSD on your chosen exchange programme. If you used the e-Gates to enter, then please provide your flight booking details or boarding pass for verification.

Students with non study visa immigration permission

Tier 2, Tier 5 visas or dependent visas

  1. Your current passport;
  2. Your visa which allows you to study on your programme.
Biometric Residence Permit (BRP)

See more information about collecting your Biometric Residence Permit on our International BRP Flyer.

If you applied in the UK for your BRP because you were a previous student, you will have received confirmation via email from the Home Office if you have submitted an application and will need to provide this confirmation before you can enrol. If you do not have this confirmation, you need to provide the interview letter you received from the Home Office when you supplied your biometric information.

Please remember that your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) statement, which you used to apply for your study visa, will include a ‘latest date of arrival’. You must enrol at the University by that date as this is one of the terms and conditions of your visa.

If you are not going to be able to arrive by our enrolment dates you must ask our staff for advice, as the University will be obliged to report any student to UKVI if they do not enrol as expected.
